Consultations with the Doctors and Nurses are available at various times at both surgeries from Monday to Friday.
To obtain an appointment please telephone the surgery on 01425 472515.
We have a computerised appointments system that links St Leonards and Ringwood enabling a receptionist to offer an appointment at either surgery.
Appointments are available to book in advance and on the day. Patients are reminded that booking-on-the-day is very useful in certain circumstances, but it is not the only option for booking an appointment.
Please read this section very carefully so that you are able to get the best from the appointment system.
Reasons for using the Book-on-the-Day Facility
- Your condition is of a more urgent nature and requires treatment that day.
- The next available pre-bookable appointment is not soon enough.
Reasons for Booking in Advance
- Your condition is on-going and not restricted by a time limit.
- Medication reviews.
- Continuation sick notes.
- Follow-up appointments e.g. if the doctor asks you to come back for review you should book your next appointment at reception before you leave or as soon as you get home if you have to consult your diary.
Our telephones are very congested at 8.30am due to the large volume of calls we receive. If any of the reasons for booking in advance above apply to you or you know you will need to see your GP routinely it would be appreciated and of huge benefit to yourself, the surgery and other patients if you would endeavour to book these appointments as soon as you possibly can.
Please remember, one appointment is for one person only and the doctor will not be able to see anyone else in addition.
PLEASE NOTE THESE HOURS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE DUE TO THE CORONA VIRUS PANDEMIC
The surgery offers a limited number of additional doctor appointments outside usual opening hours (8.30am to 8.00pm). This provision is designed to help patients who are otherwise unable to attend surgery.
These appointments are for routine matters only and must be booked in advance by contacting reception during usual opening hours.
Please be aware that the appointments will be provided by the doctors of the practice on a rotational basis, and that follow-up appointments, and nurse team appointments (blood tests, ECGs etc.) will generally need to be arranged during usual working hours.
The extra appointments are available as follows:
- Wednesday and Thursday mornings 7.00 - 8.00 at Cornerways St Leonards
- Alternate Monday and Thursday evenings 6.30 - 7.30 Cornerways Poulner
- 1 Saturday a month
Reception service is available at these sessions.
We hope that this service will benefit those patients who previously have had difficulty arranging appointments due to work/other commitments, and ask that you continue to attend during usual hours if at all possible.

Accident and Emergency
The doctors work in partnership and you are welcome to make appointments to see any of them. Please be sure to inform the receptionist who you would like to see and they will do their best to accommodate you, however if that particular doctor is away or their surgery is full you will be offered an appointment with an alternative doctor or perhaps the triage or practices nurses, whoever is most appropriate. Occasionally we have approved locum doctors working at the surgery while individual doctors are away.
Cancel an Appointment
It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.
If you are too ill to come to either surgery, you may request a home visit. Please ring if possible between 8.30 and 10.00 a.m. (Monday to Friday) so that the day can be planned efficiently. You may be asked for some information about your problem. This is so that we can arrange our visits in order of priority.
All home visits are at the discretion of the Doctors.
Text Reminder Service
We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.
To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.
Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.
